OakViva’s collection includes sculptural 3D cork wall tiles, flat decorative cork panels, and rustic bark-fronted panels. Each style offers a different combination of texture, depth, color, panel size, and practical performance.

Our cork wall panels are sustainably manufactured in Portugal using Portuguese cork. Depending on the design, a panel may be made from agglomerated cork, natural cork bark, or a combination of cork layers.

Choose the Right Surface

3D cork wall panels create a sculptural feature wall with visible depth and changing patterns of light and shadow. Designs such as Rumba, Meadows, Golf, Dreamy Clouds, Grace, and Stripes work especially well on accent walls in living rooms, bedrooms, offices, reception areas, restaurants, and hospitality interiors. Flat cork wall panels create a quieter, more uniform surface. They are a good choice when you want the warmth and natural texture of cork without a pronounced three-dimensional pattern. Depending on the product and its thickness, certain flat panels may also be suitable for light pinning or display applications. Rustic and virgin cork panels preserve more of the original texture of cork bark. Natural variations, cracks, contours, and differences between panels are intentional characteristics of the material rather than defects.

Natural Cork Colors and Variations

Natural cork has warm beige, honey, and brown tones that vary from panel to panel.

Natural Black is also natural cork. Its dark color is created through a high-pressure production process rather than by covering the cork with black paint. The natural grain and texture of the cork remain visible.

White, beige, and other selected colors use product-specific finishes. Please refer to the individual product description for the exact material and finish.

Cork is a natural material, so variations in color, grain, texture, and surface pattern should be expected. These differences help create a more organic finished wall. For the most consistent result, we recommend ordering the full quantity required for your project at the same time.

Panel Sizes and Coverage

Panel dimensions, thickness, box quantity, and coverage vary by design. Measurements are listed in inches on each product page, with metric equivalents shown in brackets where available—for example, 35.4 × 23.6 in (90 × 60 cm).

Before ordering:

1. Measure the width and height of the wall.
2. Multiply the two measurements to calculate the total wall area.
3. Add approximately 5–10% for cutting, edge pieces, and pattern alignment.
4. Check the coverage per box on the individual product page.

Cork brings natural warmth, texture, and visual depth to an interior. It works well in residential and commercial spaces where conventional painted drywall or synthetic wall coverings may feel too flat or impersonal.

Cork can also help absorb reflected sound and reduce echo within a room. The level of sound absorption depends on the product’s thickness, density, surface profile, wall construction, and installation method. Cork panels can improve acoustic comfort, but they should not be described as complete soundproofing.

Cork may also contribute to thermal comfort by adding another natural layer to the wall. It is not a substitute for code-required building insulation.

Cork bark is harvested without cutting down the cork oak tree. The bark regenerates and can be harvested again as part of the traditional management of Portugal’s Montado cork forests.

Suitability for ceilings, pinning, acoustic applications, and other specialized uses varies by product. Always review the individual product specifications or contact OakViva before ordering for a technical application.

Cork wall panels are primarily intended for dry interior spaces. They are not waterproof and should not be installed in showers, saunas, or areas exposed to continuous moisture unless the specific product is approved for that use.

Most OakViva cork wall panels are not peel-and-stick products. They require a compatible cork adhesive and must be installed over a clean, dry, smooth, stable, and properly prepared surface.

For applicable products, OakViva recommends WAKOL D 3540 cork adhesive. Always follow the current adhesive instructions and the installation guidance provided for the selected panel.

Before installation:

• Keep the panels in the installation room so they can acclimate to the interior conditions.
• Confirm that the wall is clean, dry, level, and structurally sound.
• Plan the layout before applying adhesive.
• Mix panels from different boxes to distribute natural color and texture variations.
• Use only installation products approved for cork and the intended substrate.

Some thin flat panels may be installed with heavy-duty double-sided mounting tape when this method is specifically permitted in the product instructions. Do not assume that every cork panel can be installed this way.

For ceilings, commercial spaces, high walls, or unusual substrates, we recommend using an experienced installer.

Cork wall panels are generally easy to maintain.

Remove surface dust with a soft cloth, soft brush, or vacuum fitted with a brush attachment. When necessary, gently wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth. Do not soak the cork or use abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scrubbing pads.

As with wood and other natural materials, prolonged exposure to strong direct sunlight can gradually change the color of cork. Window coverings or UV-filtering glass may help reduce this effect.
