Cork Wall Panels for Offices and Workspaces

OakViva cork wall panels add natural texture to offices, meeting rooms, reception areas, and shared workspaces. Selected panels can also help absorb some reflected sound, which may make hard-surfaced interiors feel less echo-prone. They are decorative finishes rather than complete soundproofing systems, so measured acoustic or privacy requirements should be handled as part of the full room and partition design.

Choose the wall by purpose: a sculptural backdrop for reception, a calmer visual surface for meeting rooms, a pin-friendly planning area, or a branded feature wall for shared spaces. Order samples early so the team can review color, scale, relief, lighting, and the selected mounting method.

Choose 3D depth or a flatter finish

OakViva 3D cork wall panels suit reception backdrops, conference-room feature walls, and branded installations where depth and shadow are part of the design. Classic cork wall panels create a flatter visual field and can be considered for selected display or pinning applications. Product thickness, relief, box coverage, and installation method vary, so compare the current product information rather than specifying the collections as interchangeable.

Plan pinning areas carefully

Golf, Grace, Meadows, and Dreamy Clouds are useful 3D starting points for a pinning wall. The flat Vista panel is also especially suitable for pinning. Stripes, particularly Natural Black, is less suitable because its narrow ridges and sharper edges may crumble when pins are inserted. Test the exact pin on a sample before specifying a planning wall.

Acoustic comfort without overpromising

Cork can absorb some reflected sound and help reduce echo, but the result depends on the product, covered area, mounting, and room. For speech privacy between rooms or a specified reverberation target, use a complete design prepared by the appropriate consultant. Do not rely on decorative panels alone to correct doors, glazing, ceilings, mechanical paths, or partition weaknesses. Read our acoustic cork wall panel guide for the difference between absorption and sound transmission.

Fire performance documentation for 3D panels

For the OakViva 3D collection, request ASTM E84-24 report 25-04003 from Commercial Testing Company. The report records a Flame Spread Index of 55 and a Smoke-Developed Index of 105, within the Class B range shown in the report. The tested specimen was a 0.39-inch agglomerated cork wall panel adhered to 5/8-inch Type X gypsum board with the adhesive identified in the report as Wakol D 3540 Cork Flooring Adhesive.

These results describe the tested specimen and mounting assembly. Confirm the selected 3D design, thickness, finish, adhesive, substrate, and installation method with OakViva before specification. Project acceptance rests with the authority having jurisdiction. ASTM E84 measures surface-burning characteristics; this result does not establish noncombustibility or a fire-resistance duration for a wall.

Office project checklist

  • Wall dimensions, openings, corners, and intended pattern direction
  • Substrate condition and approved adhesive
  • Product sample reviewed under the office lighting
  • Pinning test if the wall will support notices or planning materials
  • Required acoustic, fire, code, VOC, or maintenance documents
  • Waste allowance, box coverage, current availability, and target installation date
  • Responsibility for field measurements, wall preparation, installation, and final approval

Frequently asked questions

Can cork panels make an open office quieter?

They may help soften reflected sound when used over a meaningful wall area, but the outcome depends on the complete room. Open-office acoustics also involve ceilings, floors, furniture, screens, layout, and sound masking.

Can OakViva panels be used as office pinboards?

Many can. Start with Vista, Golf, Grace, Meadows, or Dreamy Clouds and test the exact pin on a sample. Avoid treating Stripes Natural Black as the preferred pinning option.

Which panels are best for a reception wall?

3D panels are a strong starting point when sculptural depth is desired. Review the sample at the intended viewing distance and with the planned wall-wash or ambient lighting.

Are the panels soundproof?

No. Decorative cork panels are not complete soundproofing systems and should not be used as a substitute for a tested partition or acoustic-door strategy.

Is a fire test report available for the 3D collection?

Yes. For the 3D collection, OakViva can provide ASTM E84-24 report 25-04003, which records a Flame Spread Index of 55 and a Smoke-Developed Index of 105 for the tested assembly. Ask us to confirm the selected 3D design and complete installation against the report before specification.

How should a commercial team begin?

Send the project location, wall dimensions, substrate, preferred products, required documents, and target installation date. Order samples before final selection.
